About the panel
Andrew J. Grill concentrates his practice in providing nationwide representation for business organizations, their employees and agents in complex commercial, tort and governmental litigation on both the plaintiff and defense side at the state and federal level. Mr. Grill also has significant experience representing Illinois municipalities, governmental officials and their insurers in highly complex federal and state civil rights litigation at the trial and appellate levels with emphasis on civil rights, police misconduct and reverse conviction defense. Prior to entering private practice Andrew worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney (Peoria County; DuPage County – 2006-2012) trying to verdict in excess of 100 bench trials and over 40 jury trials.
Andrew is an alum of Marquette University where he received a B.S. in Economics (1999) and is a 2006 graduate of the John Marshall Law School, in Chicago, Illinois. He was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2006 and became a Trial Bar Member of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 2013 and the Central District of Illinois in 2015.
Jonathon Raffensperger, Lawyers’ Committee for Better Housing (LCBH) - Jon is a Supervising Attorney with LCBH, a nonprofit providing direct legal assistance for low-income families facing eviction and other serious legal issues relating to their housing. His practice focuses on eviction defense, as well as litigation to end unlawful lockouts, remediate defective conditions, and assert the rights of tenants in foreclosure. Jon is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Chicago Law School, and was admitted to practice in November 2010. Prior to joining LCBH, Jon was a litigation associate at Winston & Strawn LLP and Butler Rubin Saltarelli & Boyd LLP.
Erica Minchella, moderator, is a graduate of Loyola University School of Law and leads a firm of three attorneys. Her field of expertise includes the spectrum of conventional and distressed real property issues for both residential and commercial properties, foreclosure defense, short sale transactions, sales out of decedent’s estates and personal and land trusts. She has been named a Leading Lawyer by the Leading Lawyers Network since 2013 and in 2019 was named one of the top ten residential real estate lawyers in Illinois. She has also been named a Super Lawyer for 2017 through 2022.
Erica is actively involved in her community and profession serving as president of the Association of Foreclosure Defense Attorneys (Founder), and ISBA Real Estate Section Council (past chair) and ISBA Assembly and the Board of Directors of IRELA. She regularly speaks at continuing legal education programs on real estate issues. Erica is a Commissioner on the Village of Skokie Economic Development Commission. She also represented the North Suburban Bar Association on the drafting committee for revisions to the Multi-Board Contract and is a columnist for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin regarding Real Estate issues.
